Ellen’s top tips to her younger self when pursuing a career would be:
“Do not be afraid to be great or take the lead. Network with as many people you can, be confident and do not sell yourself short, you are worth it!”

In terms of pursuing education, she would advise:
“Make sure to choose a field you will enjoy/love working in. Aim for the top grades, after all you have nothing to lose. Although you need to work hard, make sure to enjoy the experience of education, once you are out it, all you will be left with are the memories.”

Eugenia is currently studying on the Bar Professional Training Course after finishing her LLB Law degree (Nottingham Trent) and her postgraduate studies in International Commercial Law (LLM) at the University of Nottingham.

Eugenia’s top tips to her younger self when pursuing a career would be:
“Do not allow anyone or anything deter you from your path. Stay focused. Networking is important; build great relationships with those who are further in your desired field so they can mentor you and point you in the right direction!”

In terms of pursuing education, she would advise:
“Education does not have to begin or end in the classroom. Dedicate extra time and diligently study. Research the things that interest you and invest time into ensuring your work is the best it can be before its submitted. Do not be afraid to ask for clarity if you need it.”

Alongside enjoying a thriving career at the Commercial Bar, Eugenia’s career dream would be to pursue her multiple business ventures; the first being in events management.

Gideon is a consultant in Web Design and Web Systems Administration. He served in the British Army for 6 years. Gideon graduated from the University of Lincoln with a degree in Computer Information Systems graduation with a 1st Class with Honours.

Gideon’s top tips to his younger self when pursuing a career would be: to get as much work experience as possible and keep an open mind when it comes to job hunting.

In terms of pursuing education, he would advise:

Gideon’s ultimate career goal is in Project Management, however if he could go back in time, he would take at least one economic class.

Stephanie is a BA International History graduate from the London School of Economics. At the moment, she is a Teaching & Learning Administrator at University College, London.

Stephanie’s top tips to her younger self when pursuing a career would be:
“Get several internships and get relevant work experience!!! Also sharpen numeracy and IT skills!

In terms of pursuing education, she would advise:
“Work extremely hard and get the best grades as makes it easier to apply to the best unis. Make sure you aim for the top and do what you want to do. Speak to lots of different people – networking is key! Make sure you read a variety of books you are interested in. Have a LinkedIn profile and be confident!”

Stephanie’s ultimate career goal is to be a qualified lawyer and/or enter academia and teach History.

Ama is an experienced Human Resource Practitioner specialising in Recruitment & Talent Planning, Employment Law and Employee Engagement. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and Development and a BA (Hons) in Broadcast Media.
Outside of work, Ama is the head of Editorial for Ghana Magazine and the Creative Director for Temple Lace.

Ama’s top tips to her younger self when pursuing a career would be:
“Never stick to one field. Be more experimental, be open to everything that you are capable of doing.”

Tip I would give to my younger self when it comes to pursuing an education/ career: Study, travel, network, repeat. Stay confident, driven and most of all, be kind to yourself.

In terms of pursuing education -

Select a subject area you enjoy, research on topical issues, be open-minded and stay relevant. Study, socialise, go on adventures, form meaningful friendships, volunteer, play a sport,  study,  read many books, sleep. Repeat. Be committed and put in the hours to study! You'll walk away smiling!
